WIZZ AIR OPENS ITS FIRST ROUTE FROM LUXEMBOURG IN AUGUST 2023

Connecting the Grand-Duchy with Rome

Wizz Air, Europe’s fastest-growing and most sustainable airline globally*, announces a new route from Luxembourg to Rome Fiumicino airport. From 1st August 2023, the ultra-low-cost airline will connect the Grand-Duchy with the Italian capital three times per week. The aircraft operated on this route will be an Airbus A321neo, which is by far the most efficient single-aisle aircraft with the lowest fuel consumption per seat-kilometre in its category today and, therefore, also the most sustainable aircraft available on the market.

We are thrilled to commence flights from Findel Airport, offering better connectivity, affordable fares, and even more choice to new customers living and working in Luxembourg. The route to Rome is ideal to visit friends and family, to do business in one of the world’s most important historical and cultural centres in Europe, or to enjoy exploring the sights of the Eternal City”, said Evelin Jeckel, Network Officer of Wizz Air. “We look forward to welcoming travellers onboard our aircraft. In the airline industry, Wizz Air is known for operating one of the youngest fleets in the world, with an average age of 4.6 years."

A young and sustainable fleet

With 73 Airbus A321neo in the fleet, the ultra-low-cost airline is also the largest operator of this aircraft type in Europe. Wizz Air has the lowest CO2 emissions per passenger kilometre in Europe and is committed to further reducing its CO2 emissions by 25% by 2030. Due to continuous improvements this year, the airline’s CO2 emissions amounted to 55.7 grams per passenger/km for the rolling 12 months to the end of November 2022”.

Wizz Air’s new generation Airbus A321neo aircraft features the widest single-aisle cabin with 239 seats in a single-class configuration. The environmental benefits of the Airbus A321neo include a 50% reduction in noise footprint, a 20% reduction in fuel consumption and a 50% reduction in nitrogen oxide emissions compared to the previous generation A320ceo aircraft.

Tickets for the new route to Rome can be purchased via wizzair.com or the Wizz Air mobile app from 24.99 EUR**.
